From the Wiha Booth to the Podium: An Unforgettable Weekend at Road America

Monticello, MN — August 2026

JDC-Miller MotorSports earned a podium finish in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship at the Motul SportsCar Endurance Grand Prix at Road America, capping off an exciting weekend of racing, fan engagement, and connection for Wiha Tools.

The result was especially meaningful at Road America, the team’s home track, where a large crowd gathered for the circuit’s first IMSA race held in a six-hour endurance format. Throughout the weekend, Wiha connected with fans at its trackside booth before cheering on the No. 5 Porsche 963 as it secured second place overall.

JDC-Miller MotorSports Takes the Podium

Driven by Tijmen van der Helm, Kaylen Frederick, and Laurin Heinrich, the No. 5 JDC-Miller MotorSports Mustang Sampling Racing Porsche 963 took on six hours of competition around Road America’s 4.048-mile, 14-turn circuit.

The team encountered several challenges throughout the race, including penalties that put the No. 5 Porsche a lap behind and late-race contact that damaged the car’s nose. Air entering through the damaged bodywork eventually caused the passenger-side door to open, resulting in a mechanical black flag.

Because the issue occurred as the final pit-stop window opened, the crew was able to replace the nose and secure the door during a scheduled stop without losing significant time. The team continued working its way back into contention and was running fifth when a late caution reshaped the field.

Following incidents and a penalty involving competitors ahead, the No. 5 Porsche moved into second place and took the checkered flag under caution. The result marked JDC-Miller MotorSports’ third podium in four races and strengthened Heinrich’s second-place position in the GTP drivers’ championship with two races remaining.

“We had the pace and executed well throughout the race,” said John Church, Managing Partner of JDC-Miller MotorSports. “That allowed us to be in position to take advantage of the breaks when they presented themselves. Our podium is a perfect example of how, if you keep working, you can get a great result.”

Connecting With Fans at the Wiha Booth

While the action unfolded on the track, Wiha Tools spent the weekend connecting with race fans, longtime customers, and new tool users at its booth.

From Friday through Sunday, attendees could shop 21 Wiha products offered at special track pricing. The response was strong, with the entire inventory brought to Road America selling out before Sunday’s featured race began.

On Friday, van der Helm, Frederick, and Heinrich joined Wiha for a driver autograph session. Fans had the opportunity to meet the drivers, take photos, collect autographs, and receive a complimentary JDC-Miller MotorSports T-shirt while showing their support for the No. 5 Porsche ahead of the race.

“Road America gave us another incredible opportunity to connect directly with race fans and longtime Wiha supporters,” said Wade Krinke, Vice President of Marketing and Product Development at Wiha Tools USA, who has attended Road America for over a decade. “Seeing the enthusiasm at our booth and watching JDC-Miller MotorSports earn a podium finish made it a memorable weekend for our entire team.”

A Familiar Face Takes Home the Wiha Giveaway

Throughout the weekend, attendees could also enter for a chance to win a cooler filled with Wiha tools and swag.

The winner, Barbara, stopped by the booth with her husband, Larry. Longtime members of the BMW club, the couple has attended Road America and other IMSA races for decades. Over the years, they have also become familiar faces at the motorsports events Wiha attends, regularly visiting the booth and showing their support for both Wiha and JDC-Miller MotorSports.

Barbara and Larry even make a point of wearing their JDC-Miller Porsche shirts before BMW events as a show of support for Wiha and the team. Their enthusiasm reflects the meaningful connections motorsports can create among teams, sponsors, customers, and fans, and Wiha was excited to send the giveaway home with two dedicated members of the racing community.
